I recently received a number of products from the pet food brand Vigor & Sage, to try out. Today my blog with my findings and final verdict on Vigor & Sage Dog Food!

About Vigor & Sage
On the (beautiful!) website, this brand tells us about their food, that it contains no artificial colors and flavors, but only natural ingredients. They use ingredients from sustainable sources, which is of course very good in a time like this, when the environment and nature are under pressure. I love this!
They also add functional herbs to their food, which help support health.
I received a bag of Lilly Root kibble, for healthy skin and coat, and several cans of Fresh Turkey with Lotus Leaf, for all dog breeds.
Testing the Vigor & Sage Dog Food
We opened the bag of kibble first The composition sounds good, the first five ingredients are fresh salmon, dried potato, dried peas, dried salmon and dried beet pulp. Looking at the analysis, we see that it contains 24% protein, I would prefer to see this slightly higher, especially since it also contains vegetable protein, but 24% is not bad at all! 16% fat is fine, and 40.8% carbs as well. I would prefer to see the latter a little lower, and the animal protein amount a little higher, but that also makes the raw materials (and therefore the kibble) more expensive. Choices have to be made!
We organized an afternoon of brain work with the girls, with the kibble. My girls love it! The puzzles were emptied with relish, and the sniffing mat was also quickly emptied. The following days I also used the kibble during training, and as a reward during the daily walks. They didn’t get bored with the taste! The girls still like the kibble just as much as when they first tasted it. This is very important to me!
After that I started working with the cans. This contains 55% fresh deboned turkey muscle meat, as well as green beans, pea protein, lotus leaf and dried seaweed. The smell is fine, it smells of course like wet food for dogs, but that can also smell really bad! This food does not smell bad at all. I smeared it on a lick mat for the girls first. It can be divided well, but you can also see pieces of the various ingredients quite well. That makes it look a lot better to me than if it was completely ground to a pulp. So that’s a big plus!
The girls loved it, they were busy with their lick mats quite a while. The only ‘disadvantage’ was that because it contained small pieces of turkey, these stuck in the lick mat and it was difficult for the ladies to get them out. But Vigor & Sage can’t help that of course, and again, I’d much rather see it that way than if it had been a mushy pulp.
This wet food also went down well with the ladies in their Kongs!
Both the kibble and the cans of wet food are available through Vigor & Sage themselves, in their webshop: https://www.vigornsage.nl
Fijne voeding
Onze rauw gevoerde honden vonden zowel de brok als het natvoer erg lekker in hun puzzels en voerspeelgoed, en tijdens de training
We also made a video of the puzzles, which you can find below:
