A while ago I received a message from DogSuppy, a manufacturer of supplements for dogs, asking if I might be interested in a collaboration. Of course I wanted that! I was sent some of their Probiotics Forte to try out and review.

About DogSuppy
On the DogSuppy website I read that they started out with a passion for dogs and their health, and that they were looking for quality supplements that work well for the dog. When they couldn’t find one, they started their own product, which became DogSuppy. Nice starting point of course, to start from a need for your own dog!
The website itself looks good, it contains a lot of information and an extensive FAQ where frequently asked questions are answered.
About DogSuppy Probiotica Forte
I was sent the Anti-Itch variant for Juno at home to test, because Juno regularly suffers from itching, I thought it would be a good one to try. The product comes in sturdy jars with a screw cap. It contains a powerful blend of probiotics, prebiotics, postbiotics and parabiotics to support the growth and activity of beneficial gut bacteria. A closer look at some ingredients: Colostrum to strengthen the immune system, L-Glutamine as a support for intestinal wall repair, Quercetin as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory (and itch reliever), and a mix of herbs and (fish) oil to both relieve itching and boost the immune system.
Considering Juno’s weight, she is allowed to eat three treats a day, which I gave her throughout the day.
Time to test it out!
First of all, the taste test: Juno eats the treats with great pleasure. Now I’ve said this before and I’ll keep saying it: she is a Labrador and I know that they are generally not terribly picky eaters. But if Juno doesn’t like something, she just won’t eat it. That didn’t happen with these probiotic treats!
I’ve been giving them about a month now to see what it does for Juno. Juno still suffers from itching, but I will have to consult with the vet to find another cause and solution. I think the cause lies somewhere where these treats can’t do much, because in other areas I really see a clear difference! Her fur is much nicer, shinier. Her stools are fine, nice firm turds and virtually no gas problems. Before I started, her coat was a lot less shiny and she occasionally had softer stools. That’s gone now, so we’re very happy with that!
Of course, probiotics mainly focus on intestinal health, so it is no surprise that I noticed results there first. It also strengthens the immune system, which probably takes a little longer. Moreover, Juno was of course a healthy senior to begin with!
My Judgment
I think I’ll keep giving the treats to Juno! She likes them and it clearly does her digestion (and coat!) good!
For three jars of DogSuppy you pay €114.60, and there are 60 treats in a jar. I still have enough left to keep going for a while, because with 3 sweets a day, a jar will last quite a while. Smaller dogs obviously need fewer treats per day, so a jar lasts even longer. The Probiotic Forte is available via the DogSuppy website. If you order via this link you will also receive a 15% discount on your order!
