I recently had the opportunity to photograph some dummies from the Dog&Field brand with different dogs for Jachthondenwinkel Hunter & Co (with my photography business Dog Portrait), and I immediately seized the opportunity to test them with my own Herja of course! Today, therefore, a blog about these dummies, which have recently been added to the range of Hunter & Co.
Disclaimer: I was loaned these products for the purpose of photographing and reviewing. My opinion is my own, I will not be influenced and will always give my honest opinion about a product. This way I can guarantee the integrity of this blog 🙂
Dog&Field The Original Clone® Collection at Jachthondenwinkel Hunter&Co
Zoals gezegd, Hunter&Co has not had the Original Clone collection in its range for very long, and Moniek sent me some dummy’s to use for photos for their marketing purposes. I also took three of the dummies with me when I went to train with Herja in Bergen op Zoom, so that I could test them out myself. I started with the Pheasant Rooster.
Pheasant Rooster Bird dummy
My first impression when I got my hands on this dummy was: ‘Wow! What a cool dummy!’. It looks spectacular, feels nice and sturdy and looks quite similar to a real pheasant. Of course it is not the same as a real pheasant, but if you cannot or do not want to train with real game, this is a fantastic alternative and a nice change from the standard 500 gram canvas dummy. It is slightly heavier than a standard dummy, namely 535 grams. It is also a bit fuller, so I would not recommend this dummy for very young or inexperienced dogs. There are smaller options in the range for those dogs!
Herja had no trouble retrieving this dummy, she picked it up neatly and brought it to me nicely.
This one has been approved!
Teal duck dummy
Next up was the cutest dummy ever: the Bird Dummy Teal duck. With a weight of 250 grams and a nice compact size, it is ideal for younger and more inexperienced dogs. But it is also great to use for small search retrieves, or just as I used it during my training: as a smaller marked retrieve.
Duck dummy
At the end of the training I still had some time left for some water work, and for that I had saved the last of the three dummies I had brought with me: the Bird Dummy Duck. This is equal in size and weight to the pheasant (apart from the pheasant’s tail of course). A big advantage for me of this dummy compared to the foam ducks that I often use is that the latter has no wings (and what duck doesn’t have wings!) and I don’t like the legs of the foam ducks. That is not the case with this dummy: it has beautiful flapping wings and mobile legs that are soft.
Conclusion Dog&Field Original Clone dummy’s
Is there nothing wrong with these dummies? Well, no, actually there isn’t. If I’m going to be really critical, the material is a bit more difficult to clean and if you train a lot in the mud, at some point you lose the beautiful pattern on the fabric. But I don’t think your dog will have a problem with that, hihi!
These dummies are a bit pricey, but they really are quality products and in my opinion they deserve a matching price tag. After all, you train with it for a long time!
I think these are very nice Christmas presents, so if you are still looking for a nice gift for a friendly hunter: you can shop at Jachthondenwinkel Hunter&Co.
Super toffe dummy’s!
Een prachtig alternatief voor mensen die niet kunnen of willen trainen met echt wild, of als alternatief voor de standaard dummy’s
