If you follow my Instagram account, you’ve probably noticed that I like to bake for my dogs, and that I like to incorporate my baking into the girls’ meals. For example, I recently baked a number of Peanut Butter & Cheese Dog Cookies to serve as toppers on their meals. And today I’m sharing the recipe with you!
What do you need
For about 15 fairly large cookies I used the following:
- 400g Buckwheat flour
- 100g Fine shredded cheese (from the supermarket)
- 100g Peanut Butter for Dogs
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- Water
What to do
- Preheat the oven to 150C
- Mix flour, oil, cheese and peanut butter with the eggs, but keep a little bit of the flour aside for later
- Add water until you get a kneadable dough
- Roll the dough
- Sprinkle it with a little flour to make it easier to cut out and easier to get the cookie out of your cutter
- Cut your cookies
- Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper
- Bake in about 25 minutes
- Let cool before serving 🙂
I make my own cookie cutters, but there are several shops online, for example on Etsy, that offer very nice cutters. Maybe I will also offer mine via Etsy in the future, you will read more information about that via Social media and the website by then.
You can also knead shapes yourself and flatten them on the baking tray, then you don’t need cutters at all. Keep in mind that this recipe is written for relatively flat cookies, so if you make yours thick you may need to bake them a little longer.
Buckwheat flour is gluten-free, because Buckwheat is not a grain, but a bush fruit that contains a lot of protein and vitamins. If your dog has an intolerance to grains/gluten, or if you prefer not to use grains/gluten in your baking, Buckwheat flour is a great alternative to ‘regular’ flour.
